BETHLEHEM, Pa. - For the fourth time this season and eighth in her career, junior E'lana Lemon was named the Patriot League Female Field Athlete of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday. Lemon placed first in the weight throw at the Lafayette/Rider Invitational on Friday with an ECAC qualifying distance of 17.22 meters. Lemon has already qualified for the ECAC/IC4A Championships this season, and will travel to Boston for the competition in March.
The West Orange, N.J. native's victory was one of four first-place finishes for the Mountain Hawks Friday's meet, which also served as the team's final tune up before the Patriot League Championships this weekend. Lemon has taken home first place in six of seven competitions this season.
Lemon previously won the award for three consecutive weeks earlier this season, and she'll have a chance next season as a senior to match or break the Patriot League career record of 12.
Two other Mountain Hawks received honorable mention by the league for their weekend performances.
Sophomore Jessica Kendzor finished first in the 800-meter run with an ECAC time of 2:12.80. Her time also broke a school record of 2:13.23 which was set in 2009 by Sarah Serwo.
And freshman Savanna Plombon placed first in the mile run with an ECAC time of 4:58.20.
Lemon and the rest of the Mountain Hawks will travel to Bucknell for the Patriot League Championships this Friday through Sunday, February 17-19, in Lewisburg, Pa.
