Compitello selected by Denver in MLL Supplemental Draft

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh men's lacrosse assistant coach Tom Compitello was selected 15th overall by the Denver Outlaws in Wednesday's Major League Lacrosse Supplemental Draft. Compitello played in two games last summer with the Hamilton Nationals, scoring two goals at Denver, where he will now call home. The Hauppauge, N.Y. native enjoyed a standout career at Stony Brook where he posted 146 points highlighted by his All-America junior campaign.
Hall of Famer Mark Millon was picked first overall by Rochester. The draft went 96 picks deep and included numerous former collegiate All-Americans as Major League Lacrosse teams look to sure up their rosters.
An attackman, Compitello was originally selected by the Boston Cannons in the 2011 MLL Collegiate Draft before moving onto Hamilton last summer. He scored two goals in the Nationals' season opener at Sports Authority Field at Mile High in Denver.
Compitello was an integral part of Stony Brook's rise to national prowess, posting 37 goals and 35 assists his junior year to lead the Seawolves to the National Quarterfinals. He scored three goals in an NCAA First Round win over Denver; one was a behind the crease dive shot which earned him an ESPN Top Play. He then led Stony Brook to the America East Championship Game as a senior, posting 17 goals and 18 assists in 13 games.
At Lehigh, Compitello serves as assistant offensive coordinator, sub box coordinator and community lacrosse coordinator. He'll be entering his second season on the Lehigh staff in 2013.
