BETHLEHEM, Pa. – For the second straight week, the Lehigh women's track and field team took home first place as Lehigh won the 12-team Mountain Hawk Invite. The two-day event finished Saturday with the Mountain Hawks dominating the field with 225.5 points. Lehigh had a lot out outstanding performances including one by senior Alexandra Doersam who broke the school record in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.89 seconds.

“It ended up being a really good meet for us and we faced some good competition across the board,” said head coach Matt Utesch. “I was really pleased overall though with how the meet went. We had a couple women do some special things today and it was really nice to see some great performances.”

Lehigh finished well ahead of Wagner (83), East Stroudsburg (78.5), Lafayette (78), Bloomsburg (62), Kutztown (54), Moravian (42), Muhlenberg (31), Monmouth (14), Delaware (12), Montclair State (10) and Stockton (5).

Doersam's record-breaking run came in the preliminaries of the 60-meter dash as the previous school record was held by junior Khaaleedah Smith who set it last year with a time of a 7.90. Doersam went on to finish third in the event.

Sophomore Brooke Astor also had a stellar performance as she won the pentathlon with a personal record 3393. Astor was just 57 away from qualifying for the IC4A/ECAC, which hasn't been done in the event since Justina Barone did so in 2003. Astor placed first in the 60-meter hurdles and high jump and finished second in the shot put and long jump.

Junior E'Lana Lemon continued her incredible season as she improved to 4-0 in the weight throw, this time winning with a distance of 17.11m.

In the 800-meter run, Lehigh took six of the top seven spots including the top three as sophomore Jessica Kendzor led the way with a time of 2:17.29 while junior Lauren Pietrosh was second with a time of 2:19.51 and junior Brittany Pietrosh placed .30 seconds behind her.

The Mountain Hawks also took the top three spots in the one mile run as freshman Savanna Plombon finished first with a time of 5:03.49 while junior Julia Perry took second (5:05.21) and senior Katherine Pierce placed third (5:11.30).

Lehigh won both the 4X400-meter relay and the 4X800-meter relay. In the 4X400, a pair of Lehigh teams took the top 2 spots. It was Kendoz, Perry, Brittan and Lauren Pietrosh who won the event with a time of 4:06.81 while freshman Halie Carter, junior Melissa Knapp, junior Kristin Slotnick and Smith were second with a time of 4:07.40.

In the 4X800, the winning team was junior Kathleen Ryan, sophomore Katherine Howley, freshman Ingrid Simon and Plombon with a time of 9:46.28.

Lehigh will next host Lafayette in a dual meet Saturday, January 28th at 3 p.m. at Rauch Fieldhouse.

“Both schools look forward to this every year and we definitely won't take them lightly,” Utesch said. “We know they will bring it, but hopefully we can too and come out on top.”
