BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's and women's track and field teams both took home first place at the Mountain Hawk Invite over the weekend. The men's team beat out 12 other teams with a final score of 202 points while the women beat 11 other teams with a total of 225.5 points. There were some incredible performances on both sides including a pair of school records.
“It ended up being a really good meet for us and we faced some good competition across the board,” said head coach Matt Utesch. “We really exploded in the jumps today, especially on the men's side. And we had a couple women do some special things today and it was really nice to see some great performances. I was really pleased overall though with how the meet went.”
Senior Stephen Tutunjian improved to 4-0 in the triple jump in impression fashion Saturday. His 15.35 meter jump crushed the 30-year school record of 15.08 meters which was set by Larry Mercabdante in 1982. Tutunjian also finished second in the long jump with a distance of 7.09 meters. Both distances were IC4A qualifying distances, but Tutunjian has already qualified in both events in meets earlier this season.
