Mountain Hawks recognized by NFHCA for academic success

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Ten Lehigh field hockey student-athletes have been named to the 2010 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad, as announced on Wednesday. The Mountain Hawks also garnered an academic team award for accumulating a team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the fall.
The individual honor is presented to those student-athletes who achieved a 3.30 GPA or higher through the fall semester. In total, five seniors were honored - Lauren Cawley, Katey Fardelmann, Jessica Miller, Lilia Sefaniwsky and Cassie Willard. Also recognized were Caitlin Donnelly, Allison Kowalski, Abby Tilton, Brittany Johnson and Allison Huckfeldt.
The Mountain Hawks have enjoyed tremendous success in the classroom as of late. Twelve cracked the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll announced last month, led by Tilton, who posted an impressive 3.98 GPA this fall in IDEAS (Integrated Degree in Engineering Arts and Sciences). Fardelmann and Stefaniwsky posted GPAs exceeding 3.9 as well.
Lehigh also tied for the most honorees on the first-ever Academic All-Patriot League Team with Fardelmann, Donnelly and Tilton all named to the distinguished squad.
