BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh baseball team (15-8) had a season-high 14 runs and 16 hits in a 14-3 victory over the Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks on Wednesday afternoon on the Goodman Campus. The Mountain Hawks improve to 15-8 on the season heading into Patriot League play this weekend against Navy.

The Mountain Hawk pitching staff Steven Ball, Luke Porter and Joe McNamara combined for eight innings of work and held Maryland Eastern Shore to three hits and no runs in the eight innings effort. Ball earned the start on the mound for Lehigh, going five innings of two-hit ball to earn the win. Brendan McGaheran led Lehigh with three hits. Brandon Sady came off the bench and collected two-hits and a game-high 3 RBI. Logan Winchester also roped two doubles in the victory.

In the first inning, McGaheran led off with a walk, which was then followed by a Billy Goldman double over the centerfielder's head. McGaheran scored on the play to give Lehigh a 1-0 lead. Andy Russell walked and then Kevin Mihalik ripped a double down the left field line to score Goldman and Russell. The Mountain Hawks had a 3-0 lead after one inning.

In the third inning, Lehigh's first four batters reached base. Russell led off the inning with a walk, followed by a Mihalik single and walk by Winchester. Austin Borden then singled to score Mihalik and Winchester to give the Brown and White a 5-0 lead. Brendan Pifer capped off the three-run inning with a sacrifice fly, scoring Borden. Lehigh had a 6-0 lead after three.

The Mountain Hawks had a big five-run, six-hit inning in the fifth. Lehigh started it with four –straight hits, including a double from Winchester, two singles form Borden and Pifer and a double from Abeln. Those first four hits accounted for three runs, including two of them being credited to Abeln on his double. Later in the inning, McGaheran double and Goldman singled as they each drove in a run. Lehigh had an 11-0 lead.

In the sixth inning, Winchester poked another double to lead off. Brendan Sady then pinch-hit for Pifer and drove in Winchester on a single. The Mountain Hawks had a 12-0 lead at that point. Sady earned himself two more RBI on a two-run double in the seventh, to give Lehigh a 14-0 lead.
