BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh baseball team had strong pitching from Mike Burke, Thomas O'Malley and John Saleh, but that was not enough as the Mountain Hawks lost to the Villanova Wildcats 5-2 on Wednesday afternoon.

Burke made the start for Lehigh and went 4.1 innings, giving up five hits and three earned runs. O'Malley and Saleh combined for 3.2 innings and giving up just one run. The Mountain Hawks really struggled to get the bats going, as they accumulated four hits.

The Mountain Hawks went on the board in the fourth inning. Andy Russell led off the inning with a walk and then Kevin Mihalik singled, advancing Russell to third base. Logan Winchester then flied out to left field, scoring Russell on the sac-fly. Lehigh left the top of the fourth with a 1-0 lead.

Villanova responded in the fourth inning. Dain Hall led off the inning reaching base on an error. David Kockzirka then collected the first hit of the game for the Wildcats, a double, that advanced Hall to third base. Steve Schrenk then hit a two-run double to give the Wildcats a 2-1 lead.

Lehigh responded though in the fifth inning, as Brandon Pifer singled to start the inning. Following that, he advanced to second base on a fielder's choice and then made it to third on an error. He later scored on Andy Russell's sac-fly, tying the game at two.
Villanova would counter with two runs in the fifth inning and another in the sixth, making the final score 5-2.

Lehigh will be back in action on the Goodman Campus this weekend, hosting Iona in doubleheaders on both Saturday and Sunday.
