BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Coming off an impressive road victory at Siena, the Lehigh field hockey team looks to make it two in a row when it travels to La Salle on Saturday. Gametime is set for 1 p.m. The Mountain Hawks look to gain momentum heading into their Patriot League opener next Saturday against No. 15 American.
Wednesday's game at Siena marked one of the most dominating performances in recent memory. Lehigh scored early and often, tying a season-high four goals while the defense did the rest to record its first shutout since 2008. It also marked the first-career shutout for senior goalkeeper Jessica Miller, who teamed with fellow senior Lilia Stefaniwsky for Lehigh's last blanking, on Sept. 17, 2008 over Saint Francis.
In addition, the 4-0 final equaled the Mountain Hawks' largest margin of victory since defeating Georgetown, 5-1, on Sept. 9, 2006.
Junior Madison Ingal provided all the offense Lehigh would need, scoring the first and last goals of the game to tie a career-high, originally set as a freshman on Sept. 6, 2008, against Bryant. Sophomore Kelsey Zeswitz also had a standout game with a career-high three points via a goal and assist. Senior Lauren Cawley added a goal as well.
La Salle enters with a 2-5 record, having defeated Robert Morris and Appalachian State. The Explorers are led by Beth Carey and Neelam Kumar with nine points via three goals and three assists. Rebecca Chylack and Maddie Doub each have five points. Emma Ruther – who stands in the top 10 in school history for all four major goalkeeper statistics – has played every minute in goal, posting a 3.70 GAA and .644 save percentage.
The all-time series has been competitive with the Mountain Hawks holding a slim 14-12-2 edge. The teams have played every year since 2006 with La Salle winning three of the last four. Each of those four contests have been close, finishing with either a one or two goal margin.

Head coach Julie Mazer is also looking for her 99th career win on Saturday as she inches closer to the 100 win milestone.
