DAVENPORT, Fla. - The Lehigh baseball team picked up its second win of the season on Wednesday, as it defeated Sacred Heart 8-5 in Florida. In their final game in the Sunshine State, the Mountain Hawks scored three runs in the final three innings to soar over the Pioneers. Senior Ken Longernecker came in and pitched 4.1 scoreless innings to pick up his second win of the season. Lehigh improves to 2-7 on the season and Sacred Heart falls to 2-6.

Down two runs after the first three innings, Lehigh finally found its offense in the fourth as Juniors Sean Killeen, Jim McConlouge and Brendan Pifer had consecutive RBI singles. The Mountain Hawks built on their lead in the fifth as Junior Kevin Mihalik hit a two-run single to bring the score to 5-2.

The Pioneers evened up the score in the bottom of the inning, but that would be their final runs of the game. Longernecker shut down Sacred Heart for the rest of the game as he allowed no runs and only two hits.

Pifer knocked in the go-ahead run with a solo shot in the top of the sixth and Killeen added another RBI as Lehigh closed out the game strong.

The Mountain Hawks will return home for a few days before they face Coppin State this Friday at 3 p.m. in Maryland.
