Bethlehem, PA – The EIWA will induct six men into the league’s hall of fame the EIWA Championships on March 7-8. One of the six should be very familiar to Lehigh fans. Paul Diekel was a three-time All-American from 1984-1986.
The Oklahoma transfer came to Lehigh after his freshman season. He would go on to win three EIWA crowns, as well as earning All-American status each season as well. Diekel never finished lower than sixth at the NCAA championships, while wrestling at 190. He won nearly 90% of his matches at Lehigh, posting a record of 77-9. Diekel also ranks in the top ten all time at Lehigh in both bonus wins (tied for eighth) and bonus win percentage (seventh).
Diekel currently resides in Castleton, New York where he practices as a chiropractor.
Joining Diekel in the class of 2003 are Yale’s Frank Russell, Syracuse’s Chris Catalfo and John Janiak, and Cornell’s Thomas Boak and Glenn Stafford.
