BETHLEHEM, Pa. – 2007 Patriot League Coach of the Year Liz Ota has announced the addition of seven student-athletes that will join the Mountain Hawks program in the fall. This newest class, which includes four All-Americans and three Academic All-Americans, is expected to make an immediate impact within the program, both on and off of the field. “We’re very excited about this group,” explained Ota who is set to enter her fourth season at the helm. “Several of these girls will contribute for us right away, and as a whole, this class will blend in beautifully with the rest of our team.”
Ota continues, “It’s nice to have a number of our girls coming in with Academic All-American and All-American recognition. This class has a nice balance with strong attackers and defenders as well as a large number of midfielders.” She adds, “They will be able to fill a lot of roles for us and contribute in positive ways in terms of team chemistry.”
Lauren Donatelli comes to Lehigh from Glenmoore, Pennsylvania where she attended Downingtown East High School. A midfielder, Donatelli received All-American and Academic All-American accolades following her senior season.
From Mendham, New Jersey comes Lauren Dykstra, a three-sport standout at West Morris Mendham High School. Dykstra received First-Team All-American and All-State honors following her senior season and was named the Morris County Player of the Year. A two time Academic All-American and one of the top-50 recruits in the nation as listed by Inside Lacrosse magazine, Dykstra was a First-Team All-County and All-Conference performer as well. Dykstra was also an All-State soccer player and she received All-County and All-Conference honors in basketball. In the classroom, Dykstra was a member of the National Honor Society and the recipient of the Julius J. Wargacki Memorial Scholarship as well as a Gilder Lehrman History Scholar.
Coming to Lehigh from Meadowbrook, Pennsylvania is Jessica Griffin. Griffin attended The Springside School where she served as captain in both lacrosse and soccer. A defender who stands 5-10, Griffin possesses good size and athletic ability.
Kindal Healy arrives in South Bethlehem from Wilton, Connecticut where she attended Wilton High School. An honorable mention All-American and First-Team All State selection, Healy also received All-Conference accolades and played her club lacrosse for the Connecticut Lacrosse Futures. Off of the field, she was an honor roll student throughout high school.
From Berwyn, Pennsylvania comes Katie Koropey, a two time Academic All-American from Conestoga High School. Koropey was an All-League selection, an All-Main Line honorable mention performer and she was the recipient of the 2007 Conestoga Varsity Coaches Award. In the classroom, Koropey was a member of the Distinguished and First Honor Roll for all four years of high school and she received the President’s Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement.
The next member of the class of 2011 is Dylan Procida from Greenwich, Connecticut. Procida attended St. Paul’s School where she participated in lacrosse and ice hockey, serving as captain for both sports. She received the coaches award and players award for ice hockey and she was honored with the Kent Girls Lacrosse Award for lacrosse. Procida received the Dr. Everett P. Smith prize at graduation which is awarded to the student that has contributed to the morale and well-being of the school, its students, or the community.
Allison Thomas rounds out the Mountain Hawks class, coming to Lehigh from Strafford, Pennsylvania where she also attended Conestoga. A captain for both lacrosse and field hockey, Thomas was a member of three District I Lacrosse Championship teams (2004, 2005, 2006) and she was an All-State selection in field hockey. Off of the field, Thomas was a member of the National Honor Society as well as the honor roll.
Lehigh returns 13 letterwinners from last season, including the last two Patriot League Rookies of the Year. The Mountain Hawks were the number two seed in the 2007 Patriot League Tournament and won their most games since 2003.
