Lehigh hosts Davidson on Saturday afternoon

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh closes out its four game homestand on Saturday afternoon as the Mountain Hawks play host to the Davidson Wildcats at the Ulrich Sports Complex. Lehigh has won its last four games, including back-to-back 20-goal performances in victories over American and La Salle. Davidson has dropped its last three contests, including a 10-5 setback at Longwood last weekend in Virginia. The Wildcats will be playing only their third road game of the season on Saturday, having lost their first two away from home.
Lehigh’s offense has been hot of late, averaging 17 goals during its four-game winning streak. Sophomore Lauren Dykstra has scored 24 goals during that time to raise her season total to a team-leading 35. Dykstra also paces the Brown and White with 41 points, 47 ground balls and 25 draw controls. Dykstra enters this weekend with 99 career scores.
Junior Inneke Carmola has totaled 28 points on the year, which includes a team leading 12 assists, while freshman Kelly Draper is second on the squad with 22 goals. Senior Sara MacIntyre has found the back of the net 16 times, which raises her career total to 137. That places MacIntyre in a tie for fifth place in school annals with Anne Weitzman ’92.
Senior Sarah Fudin continues to lead Lehigh in caused turnovers with 13, while classmate Tess McGrath has caused nine and scooped up 12 ground balls. Junior Carolyn Von Heil has caused a pair of turnovers and totaled six GBs. Junior Kelsy Ferris has seen over 520 minutes of action in between the pipes and stopped 68 shots during that time.
Leading the way offensively for Davidson this season has been Jen Crawfor who has totaled 21 goals and 23 points. Four other Wildcats, including Becky Horton, Haley Cook, Anna Smith and Jenna Mugele have scored double digit goals, with Cook leading the squad in assists with four.
Michelle Pav leads the team in ground balls with 22 while Cook’s 17 draw controls are tops. In goal, Pav has stopped 94 shots in 584 minutes of action, having faced 277 shots during that time. Davidson began the year with seven consecutive home games, and earned wins in five of those contests over C.W. Post, St. Mary’s (Cailf.), Central Connecticut State, Monmouth and SUNY Cortland. The Wildcats have dropped games to Bucknell, Virginia Tech, Loyola (Md.), Marist and Longwood.
Lehigh and Davidson will be meeting for the fourth time this weekend with the Wildcats holding a slim 2-1 lead. Lehigh’s lone win in the series came in 1995, while the Wildcats won the last meeting in 2006 by a score of 7-6 in the Bethlehem.
