Mazer announces 2005 schedule

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Third year head coach Julie Mazer has announced the schedule for the upcoming 2005 season. Lehigh is on the rise after coming off its first Patriot League playoff appearance since 1996 but faces a tough schedule in 2005. The Mountain Hawks will have to be road warriors; only four of the first fourteen games on the schedule are played at home. As always, the Patriot League schedule will be difficult along with a very competitive out-of-conference line up.

The difficult non-league schedule starts with the opening game when Big East member Temple confronts Lehigh at the Ulrich Sports Complex on August 27. Lehigh then spends seven of its next ten games on the road against tough out-of-conference foes such as; Georgetown (September 10), Villanova (September 21) and Northeast Conference power Sacred Heart (September 24).

The Patriot League portion of the schedule starts off with an old rival as the Mountain Hawks pay a visit to Lafayette on September 30 in Easton.

October shapes up to be a demanding month for the Mountain Hawks as they contend with Holy Cross, American and Colgate: the three teams that finished ahead of them in the Patriot League standing in 2004. The team begins the month by traveling to Worcester, Mass. to play Holy Cross. Lehigh then travels south to Washington, D.C. the following week to play Patriot League champion American. On October 22, Colgate visits South Mountain.
