Lehigh head coach
Julie Mazer has announced the signing of six student-athletes who will join the Mountain Hawks field hockey program in the fall of 2005.
This newest group of recruits, Mazer’s second at Lehigh, has the potential to be very effective at their new school, both in the classroom and on the field.
The newest members arrive in
South Bethlehem from a variety of locations and have been very productive throughout their high school careers, in the classroom, on the playing field and within the community.
The Mountain Hawks finished up their 2004 season with a record of 9-10, while qualifying for the Patriot League Tournament for the first time since 1996. Lehigh scored an amazing 27 more goals than the previous season and established a school record in scoring the most goals in a shutout victory in history, with a 9-0 win over Robert Morris. Combine that success on the field, with this newest group of incoming athletes, and there is much reason to be excited about the 2005 field hockey season at Lehigh University.
Mazer offers her thoughts on the newest additions to the Lehigh field hockey program: “I’m looking forward to working with these six student-athletes during their time at Lehigh. They are all very strong students in the classroom, exceptional athletes on the playing field, and will be a great fit for out program.” Mazer continues, “These girls all believe in the potential of our hockey program and they are going to raise the level of play at Lehigh.”
Mazer concluded, “Besides being strong students and athletes, these girls are all of great character and are terrific people. I think that they will add a lot to our program.”
