Mountain Hawks compete in '08 PL Championship

CHERRY HILL, N.J. – Lehigh competed in the 2008 Patriot League Rowing Championship on Sunday morning and the Mountain Hawks finished fifth in the three-race event. The Brown and White competed in the first varsity eight, second varsity eight and varsity four races and totaled seven points on the day. Bucknell won its third consecutive team title as the Bison scored 27 points, which tied for first place with Navy. Based on its victory in the varsity-eight race, Bucknell was awarded the crown. In the men’s Patriot League Challenge, Lehigh’s novice 8 crew defeated Holy Cross by nearly four seconds in a tight, down-to-the-wire race. The men’s first and second varsity eight crews also competed.
In the varsity eight race, Lehigh crossed in a time of 7:25.22 to earn three points, while in the second varsity race, the Mountain Hawks earned two points after finishing in a time of 7:51.51. The Mountain Hawks varsity four crew crossed in a time of 9:12.26, good for two points. Bucknell won the varsity eight race with a time of 6:51.65, and Navy captured first place finishes in the second varsity eight race (7:14.50) and the varsity four (8:09.35).
On the men’s side, the varsity eight finished in a time of 6:24.97, placing second behind Holy Cross and in front of Bucknell. The second varsity eight crew finished third in a time of 6:49.69.
