The Mountain Hawks started the scoring early, putting the first two runners of the game aboard, then Russell brought them home with a three-run homer that stayed just inside of the right field foul pole.
Joe Ercolano made it a 4-0 game in the bottom of the third on a solo homerun over the fence in right center, his fourth of the season. The Mountain Hawks put three more runs on the board the next inning with Billy Swenson, Ercolano and Billy Goldman all picking up RBI in the inning.
The Hornets got their first runs of the game in the top of the fifth on a bases clearing triple from Troy Drummond, to cut Lehigh’s lead to 7-3.
The Mountain Hawks added three more runs in the seventh and eighth innings to pick up their 18th win of the season.
Grim (3-1) earned the win, allowing just one hit in three shutout innings in the start. Billy Alec and Geoff Campbell combined to pitch the final five innings, and gave up one run on five hits.
