Lehigh has been led on offense all season long by freshman Lauren Dykstra, a four time Patriot League Rookie of the Week honoree, who leads the league in goals (39) and points (49). Dykstra’s 49 points are tied for the second most in the nation, while her 39 goals are only eight shy of tying Sara MacIntyre’s freshman record of 47 which she set in 2006.
MacIntyre has scored 24 goals for the Mountain Hawks this season, while sophomore Inneke Carmola has added 21. Christy Smith (16), Meagan Tenety (13) and Allison Thomas (12) have also scored double digit goals.
MacIntyre leads the team with 27 draw controls, while Tess McGrath (27) and Dykstra (26) are the Mountain Hawks ground ball leaders. As a team, Lehigh is averaging over 27 ground balls per game, which currently leads the nation, and the Mountain Hawks 15 draw controls per game ranks fifth.
Sophomore Kelsy Ferris is coming off one of her best games of the season, with a season high 18-save effort versus Canisius on March 21. Ferris has made 108 saves in 567 minutes of action, having faced 265 shots in that time. She has posted seven games of ten or more saves in 2008 and currently has a .491 save percentage.
Nikki Bolduc is Holy Cross’ leading scorer with 21 goals and 27 points, while Kristine Corkum has scored 16 goals and Katie Gardner has added 13 goals and seven assists. The Crusaders, who are unbeaten at home, but winless on the road (0-6), dropped their first two league games to Colgate and Navy before downing Bucknell last weekend at home 16-6.
Meg O’Leary is the team leader in ground balls with 18, while Amy Martin has scooped up 17 of her own. Bolduc leads the Crusaders in draw controls (19) and caused turnovers (15) and has scored the game-winning goal in two of the team’s wins.
In goal for Holy Cross, Martin has started all nine games and recorded 97 saves in 537 minutes of action. She boasts a save percentage of .480 having faced 266 shots.
Lehigh leads the all-time series between these league foes 10-6, but the Mountain Hawks have not defeated the Crusaders since posting an 11-10 win at home in 2003.
Lehigh and Holy Cross will get things underway at noon on Saturday from the Ulrich Sports Complex. Complete video and audio coverage of the game will be available on Lehighsports.com with Steve Lomangino providing the commentary.
