LEWISBURG,
Both teams unleashed 33 shots on the evening, while Lehigh scooped up 21 ground balls. The Mountain Hawks won eight-of-19 face-offs and were 16-of-30 in clear attempts. Junior Eric Spirko played 53 minutes in goal and sent back nine Bison shots before giving way to classmate John Park, who made one stop in seven minutes of action.
Wiener put the Brown and White ahead 1-0 with a score just 1:19 into the game but Bucknell scored the game’s next three goals to go ahead 3-1. Gaunt brought the Mountain Hawks to within one at 3-2 at the 8:28 mark of the second, before the Bison scored the game’s next two goals to take a 5-2 lead into the break.
Bucknell scored the second half’s first goal to go in front 6-2 before Marino and Linko brought the Mountain Hawks to within 6-4 with just 45 ticks left in the third. Bucknell opened the fourth with four straight scores to take a six-goal lead at 10-4, before Hooff scored at the 1:54 mark of the fourth as the Mountain Hawks closed to within five, but it was too little, too late, as the Brown and White fell to the Bison.
