Sweeney no-hits Penn; Lehigh settles for split

Sweeney allowed a first inning unearned run to the Quakers, but was dominant thereafter, striking out five and walking one to improve to 3-3 on the season. The no-hitter is her second of the season, and fourth of her career.
Lehigh erased a one run deficit in the third inning, as junior Megan Conrad came around to score the tying run on a throwing error from Penn pitcher Olivia Mauro. Following a sacrifice bunt, freshman Amy Piccinich hit a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring Sweeney to give the Mountain Hawks a 2-1 lead.
The Mountain Hawks added an insurance run in the sixth inning on an RBI single from senior Heather Hamasaki that scored junior Taryn Hanley from second base. Hamasaki delivered two of Lehigh’s five hits in the ballgame, and leads the team with nine hits in ten games on this current spring break trip.
Penn falls to 4-4 with the loss.
In game two,
After falling behind 1-0 after three innings, Lehigh tied the game in the fifth inning when senior Whitney Schenbeck executed a squeeze bunt and reached on a fielder’s choice, allowing Hamasaki to score from third.
The Mountain Hawks will wrap up play at the Rebel Spring Games on Friday, with games against
