CLEARWATER, Fla. – Two five-run innings powered the Mountain Hawks to their second consecutive win on Thursday afternoon as Lehigh defeated Duquesne 11-3.  Both sophomore Matt Reitz and freshman Dan Clauson were 3-for-4 from the plate, while senior David Moscow was 2-for-4.  With the win, the Mountain Hawks improve to 2-4-1 on the season, while Duquesne falls to 2-5.

Lehigh held a 1-0 advantage heading into the bottom of the second, but the Dukes responded with two runs to take the lead.  However, the Mountain Hawks’ offense shined in the fourth inning and drove in five runs and had four hits.  Included in those hits was a bases loaded triple by Moscow that brought in Reitz, Clauson and sophomore Geoff Campbell.

The Mountain Hawks added another five-run inning in the sixth to take a commanding 11-2 lead.  Senior Stephen Salemme and Campbell each hit a two-RBI single, while Clauson had a single drove in junior Joe Ercolano.

Freshman Ken Longernecker picked up his first collegiate win.  Longernecker came into the game in the second and pitched four innings.  Classmate Andrew Berger pitched the final three innings for the save.  Berger struck out two batters and allowed one hit and no runs.

The Mountain Hawks play their final games in Florida on Friday afternoon when Lehigh meets Pittsburgh for a doubleheader scheduled for 3:00 pm.
