BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Seeds and brackets for this weekend’s 76th NCAA Wrestling Championships were announced Monday evening and the five-time defending EIWA Champion Mountain Hawks have a tough road ahead as they head to Oklahoma City looking to place in the top ten for the fifth straight year and sixth time in seven years. Four of Lehigh’s nine wrestlers earned seeds, while three unseeded Mountain Hawks drew seeded grapplers in the first round.

All four of Lehigh’s seeds are seniors, and all four are captains. Cory Cooperman earned the highest seed for any Lehigh wrestler, as he enters the tournament as the No. 3 seed at 141. Cooperman will face Kevin Artis of UNC-Greensboro in the first round. Troy Letters earned a No. 7 seed at 165 and Drew Jason Cardillo of Slippery Rock in round one.

Fresh off his second EIWA Championship, senior Travis Frick earned the eighth seed at 174 and will face Jared Ricotta of Duquesne in round one. Derek Zinck is Lehigh’s fourth seeded wrestler, getting the 11 seed at 157. Zinck will face James Strouse of Hofstra in the first round. Cooperman and Zinck both own wins over their first round opponents this season. The top 12 wrestlers in each weight class are seeded.

Only one Lehigh grappler, freshman Matt Fisk drew a pigtail round bout. The unseeded Fisk will face Javier Maldonado of Chattanooga in one of the first matches of the day on Thursday.

Freshman Trevor Chinn and juniors David Helfrich and Matt Cassidy all are unseeded and drew seeded first round opponents. Chinn will face No. 7 seed Gregor Gillespie of Edinboro at 149, Helfrich will tangle with fifth-seeded Shane Webster of Oregon at 184, and Cassidy will battle No. 10 seed Matt Delguyd of Northwestern.

The Mountain Hawks’ ninth qualifier, junior heavyweight Paul Weibel drew unseeded Tyler Rhodes of Northern Iowa in round one.

Also Monday, television, radio, and Internet broadcast information was finalized.  Competition begins Thursday morning, and runs through Saturday evening.  For fans unable to make the trek to Oklahoma City, lehighsports.com will provide live audio coverage from the championships all three days, with bout-by-bout action as well as coach and wrestler interviews and all the latest tournament news.
