Lehigh stays perfect at home with 83-39 win

Lehigh shot 53 percent for the game and out rebounded the Fords 43-26, grabbing 14 offensive boards on the evening. The Mountain Hawks dished out 20 assists on 32 field goals and forced 26 Ford turnovers. Freshman Marquis Hall dished out six assists for the game, while Neptune and Carrington both pulled down six boards. Senior Adam Hyncik scored a career-high five points while freshman Dave Buchberger added six points and four rebounds.
Haverford was led in scoring by Ray Brown’s 11 points, while Brown and Chaz Thomas each grabbed five rebounds. Brent Anderson handed out a team-high four helpers for the Fords, while Greg Rosnick recorded five steals.
Head coach Billy Taylor expressed his thoughts after the game. “I liked the way we played tonight. We really moved the ball and found the open man. We came out aggressive and were able to play a lot of guys.” He continued, “Now we have a nice break where the guys can focus on their exams and rest. It was nice to get a win heading into the break and we have to be ready as soon as we come back.”
After a jumper by Thomas to open the game made the score 2-0 in favor of the Fords, Lehigh unleashed a 17-0 run that ended with a jumper by sophomore Phil Anderson. The Mountain Hawks lead would balloon to as many as 28 points, which happened twice, the second time coming with 3:41 to go on a jumper by Olivero. Lehigh took a 47-20 lead into the locker rooms after shooting 53 percent in the opening half and holding the visitors to 26 percent shooting.
In the second half, Lehigh continued to pour it on, and every Mountain Hawk saw action. The lead hit 31 when freshman Matt Shamis sank a three-pointer with 11:38 to go, and it increased to 34 with 8:15 left on a jumper by Hyncik, as Lehigh rolled to victory number five this season.
Lehigh will now take 11 days off for finals before returning to action on Friday, December 22 when the Mountain Hawks travel to
