Three wrestlers named to NWCA All-Academic team

LaMay, an electrical engineering major, carries a 3.41 grade point average. A capable backup to Troy Letters, the Capistrano Valley, California native posted an impressive 17-5 record on the mat. LaMay moved up in weight and challenged for the starting spot at 184 pounds, where he placed fourth in the EIWA Championships and was one win shy of qualifying for nationals. With a year of eligbility remaining,
Frick garnered All-Academic recognition with a 3.22 GPA majoring in industrial engineering. The team’s Scholar-Athlete award winner, Frick placed third at the EIWA Championships and qualified for his third straight NCAA Championships. He battled a badly broken nose at nationals to finish 2-2 in competition. Frick will graduate in May and will be taking graduate classes next year as he has one year of eligibility left.
Trenge is the third Mountain Hawk to be recognized on this prestigious team. The Lehigh career leader in victories with 133, Trenge earned his degree in Earth & Environmental Science and posted a 3.01 GPA taking graduate classes during the 2004-05 season. The three-time EIWA Champion and All-American leaves Lehigh as the Mountain Hawks all time leader in dual wins and dual points and is second in bonus wins. He plans on pursuing teaching and coaching opportunities now that his wrestling career is over.
This year’s All-Academic team was composed of wrestlers from 35 universities, 55 NCAA qualifiers, and 20 All-Americans. The average GPA of the team was a 3.4165. With three wrestlers named to the team Lehigh tied for third behind
