Why Lehigh?:  “First and foremost for Lehigh’s strong academics but also for the up and coming wrestling program.” 

 

In 2003-04:   National Champion at 165, defeating Tyrone Lewis of Oklahoma State 5-2 in the finals … posted a 36-1 record overall, with only loss coming to Lewis in the dual at Stillwater … ranked fifth in the nation in pins at 165, with 12…also had 27 bonus wins…streak of 37 straight dual wins snapped in loss to Lewis (the first dual loss of his career), the second best streak in Lehigh history … won second straight EIWA title and was No. 2 seed at NCAAs

 

In 2002-03:  EIWA champion at 165 ... scored two falls, a technical fall, and a major decision in four bouts at EIWA Championships ... put together win streaks of 13 and 17... tied for team lead with 34 wins ... placed third at Midlands ... only losses of season were to the nation’s No. 1 wrestler at 165, Matt Lackey of Illinois ... 24 bonus wins on the season, including eight falls, six tech. falls, and nine major decisions ... won Sheridan Award with two pins in 3:38 at EIWA’s .... defeated Johnny Clark of Ohio State at the NWCA All-Star Meet ... perfect 17-0 record in duals

 

In 2001-02:  Deferred his eligibility … finished third at Junior World trials … won the West Virginia Open with a win over NCAA fourth seeded Tom McMath of West Virginia … pinned 11th seeded Doc Vecchio of Penn State at the Penn State Open … lost to EIWA Champion Joe Henson of Pennsylvania in the semifinals of the PSU Open … avenged the loss to Henson by defeating him in overtime at Midlands … finished third at Midlands by defeating John Clark of Ohio State 17-6

 

In secondary school: Considered the top prospect in Pennsylvania and one of the top five in the nation at any weight … ranked number one at 160 pounds and was a first team High School All-American … placed second in Junior National Freestyle as a junior … won four regional titles … career record was 146-5, including 38-0 as a senior with 29 pins and two tech falls … won two all-star bouts in the spring … defeated Travis Frick in state semifinals as a junior

 

Personal: Son of Kathy and Jeff Letters … enjoys hunting and fishing
