Raniszewski, Doane help Lehigh earn series split

Lehigh ends the series with a 12-11-1 overall record, while the Black Knights head home with a 13-8 mark. Both teams are 2-2 in league play.
In game two, the Mountain Hawks used a superb pitching effort from junior Joe Raniszewski to earn the series split. The junior pitched his first career nine-inning complete game, striking out seven en route to the win. Raniszewski’s record now stands at 2-1 in 2005 thanks to his stellar effort.
Offensively, first baseman Forrest Doane was the hero. The senior belted two home runs – both two-run blasts to right field – to tie him with teammate Andrew Smith for the Patriot League lead with six. He was 2-for-3 in the game.
Earlier in the day, the Black Knights scored three runs in the third and three more in the sixth to take game one, 7-2. Justin Kashner pitched a complete game for Army to run his record to 4-1 on the season.
Left fielder Andrew Smith was 2-for-2 at the plate with a double, but it wasn’t enough in the opener.
