Game one was a pitchers’ duel as expected, with Daley (6-0) going up against Lehigh ace Jack Muscalus. Muscalus (4-2) pitched quite well, scattering three hits and recording four strikeouts in a complete game effort. However, it wasn’t enough as Daley confused Lehigh hitters all afternoon. The only Mountain Hawk to reach base was senior Jesse Novalis, who was hit by a pitch twice. Daley struck out ten Lehigh hitters in the victory.
Despite the no-hitter, the Mountain Hawks were able to regroup and the bats came out of hibernation in game two. Freshman catcher Matt McBride and sophomore left fielder Andrew Smith each ripped three hits and scored three runs in the game.
As a team, the Mountain Hawks smashed 15 hits in the nightcap in the victory. Freshman Joel Hockman (2-1) pitched three innings of relief to earn the victory. Sophomore Kyle Collina pitched the eighth and ninth innings to nail down his third save of the season.
Lehigh and Bucknell return to action with another doubleheader on Sunday. First pitch of game one is scheduled for
