Despite the loss, there were many bright spots for the Mountain Hawks including Jeff King’s eight groundballs, and Tom Ellis’s 14 saves on the day. Head Coach Chris Wakely was pleased with the effort of his team and of the way the Mountain Hawks continued to fight until the very end. “We played hard all of the way through to the end. We didn’t just play out those last seven minutes, we played them like we played the first seven minutes of the game.” Wakely continues, “We matched up well with them on offense, it’s just that they (Army) are so good at groundballs and faceoffs and they won so many of them today, it’s hard to beat them when they do that so well.”
Wakely concludes, “Our defense played well through the run they had, Tom Ellis continued to help us by making some big saves. We got better today more so than in any other game we’ve had thus far this season. I’m proud of the guys and happy with our overall effort.”
