Take a quick glance through the Lehigh women's basketball record book and one name you’ll find prominently displayed is that of Sherie Androlewicz.19291

The numbers put up by Androlewicz throughout her career are indeed impressive. At the time of her graduation, she ranked as the school’s all-time leading scorer (1,699 points) and assists leader (581). As a senior, “Sherie A.” scored 534 points, averaged 18.4 points per game and dished out 190 assists, all single-season school records at the time.

Through the 2017 season, she is still the school’s leader for career assists, her 190 assists still rank as the school’s single season record, and her 1,699 points ranks second on the all-time scoring list.

But more than the numbers that Androlewicz put up, it was her desire to win and her ability to hit the big shot in “crunch time” that separated her from the rest of the players.

“Sherie was the consummate team player, doing whatever she had to do to make her team and teammates successful: whether it be passing, scoring or shutting down the opponent's best player,” said her head coach Sue Troyan. “Sherie was a selfless player who led by example every time she walked on the court. Sherie set a standard for the women's basketball program here at Lehigh and what we aspire to be about.”

Androlewicz lead Lehigh to a 21-8 record in 1989-90, the second-best record in program history at the time, marking the biggest one-year turnaround in the NCAA that year. The recognition she received almost equaled the records she set. Sherie A. earned All-East Coast Conference honors and was named the ECC Player of the Year as a senior, and Second Team All-Conference honors as a sophomore and junior.

A three-year captain, Androlewicz was the first women’s basketball player to have her number (21) retired, which hangs from the rafters at Stabler Arena.

“It is an honor to be inducted into the Lehigh Athletics Hall of Fame,” Androlewicz said. “I feel privileged to be in the company of the many great athletes who are in the Hall and also to have been a part of the continued development of women's basketball at Lehigh. I was fortunate to compete with talented individuals who made this achievement possible. I especially want to thank my family and friends for this support and I share this achievement with them.”

After graduation, Sherie continued to be involved with basketball, volunteering time at local basketball camps and workshops. She also served as a part-time assistant coach at Wentworth Institute of Technology.
