Erica Prosser
- Induction:
- 2024
- Class:
- 2011
A two-time Patriot League Player of the Year, Erica Prosser was a driving force behind Lehigh’s back-to-back Patriot League championship teams in 2008-09 and 2009-10.
“Erica was a tremendous point guard who influenced both ends of the court with her offensive and defensive abilities,” Coach Sue Troyan said. “What set Erica apart from many of the great players in our league and program was her competitiveness and ability to win.”
A native of Pittsburgh, Prosser is a member of one of the winningest classes in Lehigh history. Prosser helped Lehigh capture three Patriot League regular season championships with the Mountain Hawks making back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances in 2009 and 2010. Over her four years she was a leader of Lehigh teams that won 94 games.
“This recognition is a testament to the team of people I had behind me - teammates, coaches, trainers, fans, and especially my family - who made it possible for me to pursue my dreams to play Division I basketball,” Prosser said.
During those two championship seasons, Lehigh went 12-2 and 13-1 in Patriot League play. Additionally, the Mountain Hawks were 29-4 overall in 2009-10 - a school record for wins – and earned a No. 13 seed for the NCAA Tournament in Ames, Iowa.
Prosser received Patriot League laurels in all four of her years at Lehigh. As a first-year, Prosser ranked second on the Mountain Hawks in scoring, assists and made three-pointers. She was named to the league’s All-Rookie Team.
The following three seasons culminated in first-team All-Patriot League honors for Prosser, and postseason qualification for the Mountain Hawks. Prosser was also named Patriot League Player of the Year in 2009 and 2011 and added Defensive Player of the Year honors in her senior season. Prosser’s career included seven Patriot League Weekly Awards and three consecutive Patriot League All-Tournament Team selections from 2009 through 2011.
“I am honored to be included among the incredible athletes who have worn Brown and White, and I am indebted to the many women who broke down barriers to give me and my teammates the opportunity to play for this program,” Prosser said.
In 2015, Prosser was announced as a member of the Patriot League’s 25th Anniversary Team.
Prosser ranks third all-time for the Mountain Hawks in points scored (1,676) and second all-time in assists (541). Throughout her four-year career at Lehigh, she averaged 12.9 points per game.
Off of the court, she earned a spot on the Academic All-Patriot League Team, and was recognized with Lehigh’s most prestigious award, the Graduating Scholar-Athlete Award, at the 2011 Athletics Honors Convocation.
In February 2019, Prosser became just the third player in Lehigh women’s basketball program history to have her jersey honored at Stabler Arena. Legends Weekend became a two-day celebration of Prosser and Hall of Fame member CJ McCollum ‘13
Prosser graduated from Lehigh in 2011 with a degree in Africana Studies.
After a decade of working in the nonprofit sector in Chicago, Prosser returned to school and is currently in her second year at the University of Illinois College of Law. Most recently, Prosser worked for a federal district judge in the Northern District of Illinois and served as the Career Development Chair of the UIUC Women’s Law Society. Erica also works with the Illinois Innocence Project and plans to continue wrongful convictions work after she graduates.
“I could not have asked for a better experience than the one I had at Lehigh,” Prosser said. “I earned a valuable degree while playing my favorite game, and I cherish the relationships I have from my time there. The memories I made and lessons I learned have shaped me into the woman I am today.”
