The 2022 season will mark John Bisco’s 16th season as an assistant coach with Lehigh.
In 2021, Bisco helped guide Lehigh to a 24-19 overall record, a record of 17-10 in league play and its first Patriot League Regular Season Championship since 2006. Under his leadership, Lehigh had a team-record eight All-Patriot League selections including Patriot League Player of the Year Casey Rother and Pitcher of the Year Mason Black.
Bisco helped guide Lehigh to three-straight postseason appearances and 25-win seasons from 2014-16, including back-to-back Patriot League Championship appearances in 2014 and 2015. He also helped the Mountain Hawks’ capture their second-ever league crown and NCAA Tournament appearance in 2015.
Bisco worked closely with the 2014 Lehigh pitching staff which achieved its lowest team ERA in 35 years as the Mountain Hawks advanced to the Patriot League Championship series for the first time since 2006. In 2018, freshmen pitchers Peter Woltersdorf and Matt Svanson combined for the fifth no-hitter in program history in a 14-0 victory over Saint Peter’s on March 28. Mountain Hawk pitchers have tossed a total three no-hitters during Bisco’s tenure.
Before Lehigh, Bisco was the head coach of the Easton Senior Legion baseball team for 12 years, guiding the club to a 151-133 record. His teams qualified for the playoffs eight of his 12 seasons, captured four divisional championships and made two regional appearances.
A three-year letter winner and key member of an Explorers pitching staff that had three consecutive winning seasons, Bisco graduated from LaSalle University in 1977.
Following graduation, Bisco played and managed in the Blue Mountain League for 22 seasons. He lead his teams to six divisional championships and four regular season league titles.
In 2002, Bisco was elected into the Blue Mountain League Hall of Fame. He is also a member of the Notre Dame High School Hall of Fame and the Northampton County Legion Hall of Fame. In 2011, he was elected into the PA Sports Hall of Fame.
Over his head coaching career, Bisco has an overall record of 306-238. He has seen 37 of his players go onto play at the collegiate level, as well eight of those players named Pitcher of the Year in their respected leagues.
Bisco earned his MBA from Temple in 1984. He currently resides in Easton, Pa. with his wife, Kathie.
