Maria Dupnock joined the Lehigh rowing program as an assistant coach in the summer of 2023. Dupnock joins the coaching ranks following a four-year career as a rowing student-athlete at the University of Delaware.
“I’m thrilled to have Maria join the Lehigh rowing program,” Costas said. “She has a clear passion for the type of holistic student-athlete development we value here at Lehigh. From her stops as an athlete and coach in different high-performance environments, it was clear to us that she is hard-working, a thoughtful collaborator, and passionate about the sport of rowing. I'm very excited for Maria to begin working with our student-athletes and help bring their experience and development to another level.”
Dupnock will play an important role in Lehigh’s training programs and will work directly with student-athletes on technique and skill development. She will join the travel and communication effort to identify and recruit talented future Mountain Hawks from around the world to the Lehigh program.
In her senior season at UD, Dupnock competed in six races during the spring season and was a member of the varsity four boat that finished fourth at the CAA Championships.
Dupnock coached at the Wilmington Youth Rowing Association from 2021-2023, starting as a novice coach implementing and overseeing daily practice plans for a group of middle & high school rowers. She then moved to the assistant coach role working with the varsity boys sweep and sculling teams with a focus on injury prevention through strength and mobility. Dupnock also gained experience at the Academy of Future Coaches, where she enhanced her coaching skills by attending workshops presented by members of the CRCA. Dupnock also has experience as a women’s team program leader for the Penn AC Golf High Performance Program.
“I am thrilled to become a part of the Lehigh athletic department,” Dupnock said. “It was clear through the interview process that the department and its staff were incredibly enthusiastic about the development and success of our student athletes. I’m very excited to be a part of this community. I’ve learned from great coaches and leaders throughout my career and look forward to learning from coaches in this department, as well as applying my experiences to assist in developing our student athletes on and off the water.”
A native of Berwyn, Pa., Dupnock graduated from Delaware in 2023 with a degree in environmental science. She also served as a SAAC Hen Mentor within Delaware’s athletic department.
