Chris Tadley enters the 2021 season in his third season on the Lehigh men's soccer coaching staff as an assistant coach.
In his first season on staff, Tadley helped guide the 2019 Mountain Hawks to their third Patriot League Championship in program history and the team's fifth NCAA Tournament appearance. In addition, Tadley assisted Lehigh to just its second-ever regular season crown and No. 1 overall seed in the tournament. The Mountain Hawks closed out the 2019 campaign with a 13-5-3 overall record, an unbeaten 6-0-3 record in the Patriot League and an undefeated home record of 7-0-3 at the Ulrich Sports Complex.
Working with the goalkeepers during the year, senior Will Smith completed one of the most historic seasons in net in program history. Under Tadley's mentorship, Smith earned Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year laurels as well as a First Team All-Patriot League nod. Smith led the league with 10 shutouts and a .853 save percentage, which also ranked first overall in NCAA Division I soccer. For his pair of shutouts during the postseason, Smith was ultimately named Patriot League Tournament MVP for his performances.
The Cherry Hill, N.J. native, comes to Lehigh from Albright College in Reading, Pa. where he served as the men's soccer head coach for the previous three seasons. Before he became head coach, he was the Lions women's assistant coach from 2012-15 and also the men's assistant in 2012-13.
Tadley was a four year letter-winning midfielder at Albright, playing in 57 games and totaling six goals including a pair of game-winners.
Â
"This position is a wonderful opportunity for me to get into Division I athletics," said Tadley. "I wasn't fortunate enough to be able to play soccer collegiately at a Division I school, but my heart and my passion is very much on this level.
Â
"This is the best opportunity for me to be in and I'm very excited to play for a program like Lehigh that has so much history behind it. But I'm so excited about it and the amount of energy in the athletics office by itself is amazing and it's what I'm looking for in the long haul."
Tadley graduated from Albright in 2012 with his bachelor's degree in accounting.
