Tom Compitello is in his second season at Lehigh following a standout playing career at Stony Brook. Compitello serves as assistant offensive coordinator, sub box coordinator and community lacrosse coordinator in his role as volunteer assistant coach.
The Hauppage, N.Y. has made an immediate impact on the program, coaching the nation’s top man-up unit (54.2 percent) along with an offense that averaged 10.41 goals per game. The offense exploded heading into the NCAA Tournament, posting 45 goals in three games: 16 at Lafayette, 13 vs. #19 Army and 16 at #10 Colgate in the Patriot League Championship Game. Compitello has coached two of the Patriot League’s and nation’s best attackmen in David DiMaria and Dante Fantoni as both earned a spot on the All-Patriot League Tournament Team, with Fantoni earning Tournament MVP honors.
Compitello wrapped up a stellar collegiate career with 146 career points (68 goals, 78 assists), highlighted by his All-America junior campaign when he had 37 goals and 35 assists to help lead the Seawolves to the National Quarterfinals. He scored three goals in an NCAA First Round win over Denver, one of which was a behind the crease dive shot that earned him an ESPN Top Play.
Compitello was an integral part of Stony Brook’s rise to national prowess, adding 35 points (17 goals, 18 assists) in 13 games last season to lead the Seawolves to the America East Championship Game. He was selected by the eventual Major League Lacrosse Champion Boston Cannons in the fifth round (35th overall) of the 2011 Collegiate Draft before being selected by the Hamilton Nationals in the Supplemental Draft. He was most recently selected by Denver in the 2012 Supplemental Draft and is preparing for the upcoming season with the Outlaws.
