Dan Keating joins the Lehigh men's lacrosse coaching staff as a volunteer assistant coach for the 2011 season. He comes to Lehigh after spending the last six seasons coaching at three well-known high school lacrosse programs. Keating spent the last two seasons at Malvern Prep serving first as an assistant coach before taking over as head coach for the 2010 season. Under Keating’s leadership, Malvern Prep posted a 13-8 record and won the Inter-Ac regular season championship. He mentored a pair of high school All-Americans, one Under Armour All-American and three All-State selections. Keating also served as head coach of the Mesa Club Lacrosse Team.
Prior to his stint at Malvern Prep, Keating spent three seasons as the head coach of Saint Joseph’s Prep in Philadelphia. His teams won 73 percent of their games in those three seasons, including four state playoff wins. Keating coached 24 All-Catholic League players and three All-State performers at St. Joe’s Prep.
In 2005, Keating held his first Varsity head coaching position at the Taft School in Connecticut. He also enjoyed a stint as the junior varsity coach at The Haverford School and has extensive experience working camps at both Duke and Army.
A 1999 graduate of Duke, with a degree in history, Keating was a member of the ACC Academic Honor Roll and appeared in three NCAA tournaments for the Blue Devils.
"I am very excited to officially announce the addition of Dan Keating to our Lehigh Lacrosse coaching staff,” explained Cassese. “Dan is highly qualified as a lacrosse coach and a leader of young men. Among many other terrific accomplishments in our sport, he has served as the head coach of three nationally renowned high school lacrosse programs, leading each of those programs to highly successful seasons on and off the field. In my opinion, Dan Keating is a rising star in the coaching profession and I feel fortunate to have him begin his journey as a collegiate coach with our program here at Lehigh University."
