WHY LEHIGH? “I chose Lehigh because it offers an excellent education as well as an opportunity to be part of a rising program.”
AS A FRESHMAN (2012): Saw action in five games, posting a groundball and caused turnover … Had a groundball and caused turnover as part of 13-0 shutout of Manhattan (2/25). Also posted a shot on goal.
BEFORE LEHIGH: Ended high school career for Greenwich by scooping 71 groundballs to earn First Team All-State and First Team All-FCIAC honors … A big, strong defenseman … Spent most of his time guarding the team’s number one offensive threat … Served as captain to round out four-year playing career … As a junior, was named First Team All-State and Second Team All-FCIAC to lead Greenwich to a county championship … Also competed for the Connecticut Chargers summer lacrosse team with Mountain Hawks’ teammate J.P. Walsh.
PERSONAL: Son of Marty and Kim Sands … Brother of Jenna, Jason and Michael.
