BEFORE LEHIGH
A three-year varsity starter at Hazleton Area High School, McGowan was a First Team All-Conference selection during his tenure. He held a batting average of .385 during his junior year and hit .428 for his sophomore season. According to Prep Baseball Report, McGowan is the eighth-ranked shortstop in Pennsylvania. McGowan held a perfect 4.0 GPA throughout his high school career and was a member of both the National Honors Society and Spanish National Honors Society.
