Why Lehigh?: “Lehigh gave me the opportunity to get a top notch education from a highly
respected and prestigious school, while also getting a chance to play competitive Division I baseball.”
As a junior … recorded 6 wins in 10 starts … led the team in innings pitched with 4 complete games … had a 4.27 ERA … recorded one save on the season … second in the league with 76 strikeouts … tossed a complete game, one-hit shutout in a win over Navy (4/25) … 3.8 strikeout/walk ratio … pitched a career high 8 strikeouts against Bucknell (5/14) … … in his sophomore campaign … appeared in 13 games … had an ERA of 4.71 … struck out 46 opponents … led the team in saves with four … opposing batters hit .250 against him … as a freshman … Collina held opponents to a .243 batting average with a 3.81 ERA … led team with 15 appearances, 14 of which were out of the bullpen … struck out 30 batters in 28.1 innings and notched one save … in his lone start of the season he hurled a complete game … three-time member of Quakertown Blazers of the Atlantic Coast Baseball League … ranked the ACBL’s No. 4 pro prospect by Baseball America.
Collina on Leary: “Coach Leary is a great players coach. He understands how to help
players with their struggles on and off the field, because he understands what it takes to
be a successful student athlete at Lehigh. Being both a Lehigh alumnus and a former
baseball player helps him relate and understand his players at a level required to deal
with the challenges of a young adult.”
