Why Lehigh?: “I came to Lehigh because it combined everything I wanted in a college. Lehigh has and excellent wrestling program with a rich wrestling tradition as well as great academics. Adding in the fact that it was close to home made it a very easy decision.”
In 2008-09: Moved up to 141 and captured EIWA Championship, defeating Harvard’s Corey Jantzen 4-3 in the finals… led team with ten wins by fall… went 3-2 at NCAA Championships with two pins… posted 2-2 mark at Las Vegas Invitational… enjoyed key sudden-victory win over Jamal Parks in Lehigh’s win over Oklahoma State… won by fall in five of Lehigh’s eight duals… scored team’s fastest fall of the season, a 37 second pin of Harvard’s Johnny Motley during January dual.
In 2007-08: Battled back from early season injury to earn second consecutive NCAA tournament berth… led team with eight falls, including 17 second pin of Stanford’s Blair Matsuura – the sixth fastest fall in school history… went 1-2 at NCAAs with pin of Kent State’s Dan Mitcheff… won first three matches but forced to default to fourth place at early season Binghamton Open… won by fall in three of four home dual appearances.
In 2006-07: Qualified for NCAA Championships as a deferred freshman after placing fourth in EIWA tournament… 19 wins ranked fifth on the Mountain Hawks… placed eighth at the Southern Scuffle… 7-4 upset of Pitt’s nationally ranked Drew Headlee keyed dual win for Mountain Hawks… won four bouts versus 2007 NCAA qualifiers… he and brother Matt became first set of brothers in 29 years to compete together in a dual meet at Lehigh…first Lehigh brothers to qualify for NCAAs since Mark and Mike Lieberman in 1975.
In 2005-06: Deferred eligibility… posted 6-1 record in open tournaments…won Wilkes Open title at 133… scored bonus points in four of six wins.
In secondary school: Three-time Pennsylvania place-winner (2nd, 2nd, 3rd)… won three Reno Tournament of Champions titles… had four pins in six matches en route to Outstanding Wrestler award in one of his Reno wins… ranked in the top eight in his weight class nationally for much of his senior season.
Personal: son of Mike and Ellen Ciasulli … brother Andy, 27, wrestled at Drexel; Matt, 26 is a 2007 Lehigh graduate and EIWA Champion; sister, Sara, is 28.
