As a freshman…appeared in 15 games and started two…In high school … team captain his senior year … three-year starter … team won back-to-back District 11 AA championships during his junior and senior seasons … two-year all-area honoree by The Morning Call and the Express-Times … as a junior, struck out 15 batters and drove in the game-winning run in the district semifinal game that lasted eight innings … also played football.
