In 2004-05: One of team’s post pleasant surprises, amassed 18-5 record… entered season as Troy Letters’ back-up at 165…won West Virgina Open… posted a perfect 6-0 record in duals when wrestling at 165… only dual losses came when bumped up to 174… won three of five bouts at Midlands… challenged for and won starting spot at 184 pounds right before EIWA Championships… upset fourth seeded Doran Heist of Brown in first round… Placed fourth in EIWA Championships, one spot shy of automatic qualification for NCAAs… named to NWCA All-Academic Team
In 2003-04: Saw no varsity action
In 2002-03: Caused some scoreboard sparks with his freewheeling style and 6-2 mark which included two falls, a tech fall and a major… capitalized on his first varsity dual with a 15-0 tech fall in just 4:13 over Bryant Reames of NC State… won five of seven bouts at West Virginia Open, but only four places were awarded.
In secondary school: Placed third twice in the California State Championships at 147 pounds and was ranked among the state’s “Best” by Intermat Wrestling.
Personal: Son of John and Shilah LaMay… has two younger siblings, sister Brianna, 20 and brother Daniel, 18…in addition to wrestling, he enjoys watersports, including knee boarding and surfing.
