Mountain Hawks Top Navy 75-64

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh defeated Navy 75-64 at Stabler Arena on Wednesday evening on Pride Day, presented by Lehigh's Pride Center and Office of Inclusive Excellence and Belonging.
The Midshipmen entered the contest at 13-1 in Patriot League play and 18-6 overall and had not lost since Jan. 3.
Lehigh handed Navy its second league loss of the season, improving to 10-5 in Patriot League play and 14-11 overall.
With the 10-5 mark in league play, Lehigh clinched a home quarterfinal game set for March 9 at 6 p.m. at Stabler Arena.
Lily Fandre led the way for the Mountain Hawks with 21 points, tying a season high with four 3-pointers on seven attempts. Fandre has now scored 20 or more points in 10 games this season.
Whitney Lind followed right behind Fandre tonight scoring 20. Lind shot an efficient 6-of-10 from the field and knocked down seven free throws. Tonight was the fourth time this season Lind has crossed the 20 point mark and has now scored in double figures in nine of her last 10 games.
Lehigh got off to a hot start, using a 7-0 run to build a 12-4 lead less than four minutes into the contest. Navy battled back, but 10 first-quarter points from Fandre helped Lehigh take a 19-18 lead into the second quarter.
In the second quarter, the Mountain Hawks outscored the Midshipmen 21-12. Lehigh received balanced scoring in the period, including six points from Lind and six from Belle Bramer, who finished with 13 on the night. Gracyn Lovette knocked down two 3-pointers, including a halfcourt shot at the buzzer, as Lehigh took a 40-30 lead into halftime.
Patriot League leading scorer Zanai Barnett-Gay found her rhythm in the third quarter and finished with a team-high 14 points. Navy outscored the Mountain Hawks by five in the period, but eight third-quarter points from Fandre helped Lehigh carry a 44-39 lead into the final quarter.
Although Navy cut the deficit to three with just over five minutes remaining, the fourth quarter belonged to the Mountain Hawks. Lind scored nine points in the final period, while Bramer and Alana Reddy contributing key baskets down the stretch to help secure the 75-64 victory for Lehigh.

Lehigh will travel to Boston this weekend to face Boston University on Saturday at 2 p.m.
