Lehigh Goes For Fourth Win In A Row Vs. Navy On Saturday

1/16/2026 12:42:00 PM | Men's Basketball

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh men's basketball aims for four wins in a row on Saturday as the team welcomes the Navy Midshipmen to Stabler Arena at 2 p.m. for Community Heroes Day. All community heroes and first responders will receive free admission to the game by claiming a ticket HERE.

Lehigh (7-11, 3-2 PL) trails Navy (12-6, 4-1 PL) 57-36 in the all-time series dating back to the 1910-11 season. The Midshipmen swept the season series last year, with Navy picking up a narrow 63-60 victory in Annapolis in the most recent game.

If Lehigh wins, head coach Brett Reed would win his 295th game, putting him only five away from becoming the second coach in Patriot League history to reach 300 wins. In addition, Reed's record vs. Navy would improve to 22-17.

Junior captain Nasir Whitlock banked in a three with 2.4 seconds left in regulation to tie the game, helping Lehigh men's basketball defeat the Boston University Terriers 93-91 in overtime on Wednesday. Whitlock finished the game with 30 points, and the Mountain Hawks won their third game in a row. Edouard Benoit continued his hot streak, scoring 23 points with eight rebounds on 6-10 shooting and 9-10 from the free throw line. Benoit has now surpassed 20+ points in three consecutive games. Joshua Ingram put up 16 points with four steals, three rebounds, three made triples and two assists. Hank Alvey joined him in double-figures with ten points in only 26 minutes of action. Jalen Vazquez also contributed a career-high nine points, including four clutch free throws in overtime.

Navy enters Saturday's game in first place in the Patriot League with a record of 12-6 and 4-1 against league competition. The Midshipmen were picked first in the Patriot League Preseason Poll after losing last year's championship game to American. Preseason Player of the Year Austin Benigni leads the Mids in scoring at 17.5 points per game while big man Aidan Kehoe averages a double-double of 13.9 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. Head coach Jon Perry is in his first season at the helm of the program following the retirement of longtime coach Ed DeChellis.

Following Saturday's game, the Mountain Hawks will have a quick turnaround, hosting Loyola Maryland on Monday, January 19 at 7 p.m. on CBS Sports Network.

Saturday's game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and is available on Fox Sports Radio 94.7 FM and 1230 AM.
