Turker Nets First Career Goal In 1-1 Draw At La Salle

PHILADELPHIA – Lehigh men's soccer kicked off the 2025 campaign on Thursday evening on the road against Commonwealth foe La Salle. Sophomore Bora Tucker gave the Mountain Hawks the lead in the 44th minute, but the Explorers scored in the 89th to even the score 1-1 and earn a result for both sides.
The Mountain Hawks were the more aggressive team in the first half, registering five shots and four shots on goal opposed to La Salle's two total and one on goal. In the waning moments of the first half, Turker netted his first career goal to take a 1-0 lead into the locker room.
Lehigh kept their foot on the gas pedal in the second half, again tallying five shots. However, the Explorers matched the Mountain Hawks with five shots on their own. In the 89th minute, La Salle's Lucas Kelley gave his team the equalizing goal to help the Explorers escape a season-opening loss.
Sophomore Giacomo Zizza and senior Beckett Wenger were credited with assists on Turker's first half goal. Zizza took four shots on the night including one on goal. Turker had two shots on goal while junior Landon Bealer and senior Noah Levy each recorded a shot on goal.
Sophomore goalkeeper Anton Kinnunen made two saves in his first career start.
The Mountain Hawks return to action on Monday, August 25 at 7 p.m. on the road against Rider. The team's home opener will take place on Friday, August 29 at 6 p.m. against Columbia.
