Lehigh Falls 5-2 To Navy In Return To Patriot League Play

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Lehigh men's tennis returned to Patriot League play on Saturday morning on the road against the Navy Midshipmen. The Mountain Hawks fell by a score of 5-2.
Navy (16-13, 4-0 PL) narrowly picked up the opening doubles point over Lehigh (7-7, 1-1 PL) to begin the day. Aniketh Ayinala and Jeffrey Etterbeek kicked things off with a 6-2 win at number three doubles for Navy before Luke Donovan and Jose Murariu tied things up with a 7-5 win at number two. Marc Blekhman and Sean Jaeger battled at number one, but ultimately fell 7-5 to award the doubles point to Navy.
Navy's Jake Young earned the first win of singles play with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Jackson Morash at number four. Herrick Legaspi then defeated Marc Blekhman in two sets at number one, putting the Mids one win away from the clinch. A 6-4, 6-1 win for Ayinala at number six sealed the win for Navy. The Mids would find another win shortly after at number three with a 7-5, 6-3 victory for Luke Garner at number three.
Lehigh earned two points thanks to wins from Jose Murariu at number two and Ofer Hacohen at number five. Murariu went to a third set against Navy's Nguyen before the Midshipmen player retired, awarding the win to Murariu. Hacohen also battled to a third set, winning a tiebreaker 10-6 for Lehigh's second point.
The Mountain Hawks will play their Patriot League home opener on Sunday, March 30 at 11 a.m. against Loyola Maryland.
