BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh men's basketball will make the quick trip east on Saturday evening for the season's second rivalry game against Lafayette College. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m. from the Kirby Sports Center.
Lafayette (10-18, 5-10 PL) leads the all-time series 149-98 over Lehigh (10-16, 5-10 PL) in a rivalry that dates all the way back to 1902. The Mountain Hawks have had success over the Leopards as of late, winning seven of the last ten meetings and four in a row. Lehigh picked up an 86-47 victory over Lafayette earlier this season on January 25 in Bethlehem.
If Lehigh wins, they would earn their eleventh win of the season and sweep the season series against Lafayette. Head coach Dr. Brett Reed's all-time record against the Leopards would improve to 28-14.
Lehigh men's basketball traveled west on Monday evening for an in-state showdown against the Bucknell Bison on CBS Sports Network. The Mountain Hawks had a strong start in the first half, but ultimately the third-place Bison came away with a 67-50 home victory. Lehigh shot 34.5% (19-55) from the field and 23.8% (5-21) from three while Bucknell posted percentages of 46.3% (25-54) and 23.8% (5-21) from three. The Bison found an advantage from the free throw line, shooting 75.0% (12-16) to Lehigh's 53.8% (7-13). Bucknell also outrebounded Lehigh 32-22 on the night. Tyler Whitney-Sidney led the Mountain Hawks with 19 points while Bucknell's Noah Williamson posted a game-high 25 points and nine rebounds.
The Leopards enter Saturday's contest losers of their last three games after suffering an overtime loss to Holy Cross on Wednesday. Senior center Justin Vander Baan averages 12.0 points while blocking 2.87 shots per game, which ranks third in the NCAA.
