PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Seniors Sheldon Seymour and Max Brignola represented the Mountain Hawks Saturday night at the NWCA All-Star Classic at Rutgers' Jersey Mikes Arena. Both Lehigh wrestlers found themselves on the short end of decisions in the annual exhibition event.

Seymour fell 4-0 to Virginia Tech's Eddie Ventresca in a rematch from the 2025 NCAA fifth place match at 125. Brignola gave up a late takedown to fall 4-1 to Hunter Garvin of Stanford at 165.

At 125, Ventresca scored the only takedown of the match 1:46 into the opening period and rode out. Seymour started the second on top and erased the riding time before conceding the escape. With no further scoring in the second, Seymour chose neutral in the third but was unable to cut into the deficit.

Brignola and Garvin were scoreless through the first three minutes, with Garvin escaping early in the second to take a 1-0 lead. Brignola had two quality chances at takedowns in the second period but was unable to secure control. He escaped early in the third and the match appeared headed to overtime tied 1-1 but Garvin got on Brignola's leg late in the final 10 seconds of the period for the winning takedown.

Matches at the NWCA All-Star Classic are considered exhibitions that do not count towards a wrestler's season record.

The Lehigh duo were the first Mountain Hawks to compete at the NWCA All-Star Classic since Connor McGonagle defeated Virginia Tech's Sam Latona in November 2023.

The last time Lehigh had multiple wrestlers in the All-Star Classic was 2015, when Mason Beckman, Mitch Minotti and Nathaniel Brown all competed. Minotti won by fall in sudden victory at 157.

The Mountain Hawks will officially open the 2025-26 season with a large contingent of wrestlers at Sunday's Princeton Open, with action beginning at 9 a.m.
