Lehigh Hits The Road For Patriot League Championship Rematch With Colgate

1/7/2025 5:15:00 PM | Men's Basketball

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh men's basketball will play their second-consecutive road contest to begin the second week of the Patriot League season, this time traveling north to face the Colgate Raiders. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Cotterell Court in Hamilton, N.Y.

Lehigh (6-7, 1-1 PL) and Colgate (4-11, 1-1 PL) have met 106 times all-time with the series favoring the Raiders 64-42. The Raiders have won each of the past seven meetings against the Mountain Hawks, including a 74-55 victory in last year's Patriot League Championship game on March 13. The two regular season games between Lehigh and Colgate last season were each decided by three points (60-57 on Jan. 22, 63-60 on March 2).

If Lehigh wins, they would earn their seventh win of the season and improve to 2-1 in Patriot League play. A Mountain Hawks victory over Colgate in Hamilton would be their first road victory over the Raiders since 2018.

A shorthanded Mountain Hawks team fought tooth and nail but ultimately fell by a score of 80-74 to Loyola Maryland on Sunday afternoon. The Mountain Hawks were without Keith Higgins Jr. in Sunday's loss, who missed his first start of the season. Leading the way offensively for the Mountain Hawks was Cam Gillus, who scored 25 points with a career-high eight rebounds and a career-high six steals. Whitney-Sidney was also effective for Lehigh, scoring 22 points while hitting 8-11 from the free throw line. Lehigh's third double-digit scorer was Ingram, who scored 12 points with a game-high four assists.

The Raiders enter Wednesday's game following a 66-60 loss to Bucknell on Sunday, their first road Patriot League loss since 2023. Colgate won their first Patriot League game of the year by a score of 71-59 over Army West Point on January 2. The four-time defending league champions return only two starters from last year's championship team, those being junior Brady Cummins and sophomore Jalen Cox. The Raiders are led in scoring by senior Nicolas Louis-Jacques with an average of 11.9 points per game. Cox (10.4 ppg) and fifth-year Jeff Woodward (10.3 ppg) also average double-figures for Colgate.

Following Wednesday's game, the Mountain Hawks return to Stabler Arena on Saturday, January 11 to host Army West Point at 2 p.m.

Wednesday's game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and can be listened to on Fox Sports 94.7 FM and 1230 AM.
