Checo Earns Inside Lacrosse All-America Honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh men's lacrosse sophomore defenseman Richard Checo earned his second All-America honor of the season as he was named an Inside Lacrosse Honorable Mention All-American, as announced Sunday night.
Inside Lacrosse's Media All-America list was voted on by media members who vote in the weekly Media Poll.
Checo had an incredible season in the brown and white, racking up 48 caused turnovers.This season, he was second in the nation in caused turnovers per game (2.81). Checo recorded the 100th caused turnover of his career in the first round of the NCAA Tournament against Johns Hopkins on Sunday after picking up a game-high of three caused turnovers. In two seasons played, Checo has caused 102 caused turnovers, which is the second-most in program history. Craig Chick '19 holds the NCAA record and program record (160 caused turnovers).
The Oakton, Va., native picked up eight caused turnovers, tying an NCAA single-game record, in Lehigh's Patriot League semifinal win over Navy. In addition to his eight caused turnovers, he also picked up a career-high of eight ground balls. Checo has recorded multiple caused turnovers in 12 games this season.
No. 17 Lehigh ended its season on May 12, falling to third-seeded Johns Hopkins 13-10, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
