Mountain Hawks Wrap Up Strong Showing At Penn Relays And The Covert Classic

PHILADELPHIA/BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh track and field teams wrapped up their final showings before next weekend's Patriot League Championships with the Penn Relays and Covert Classic.
 
PENN RELAYS
 
The distance medley relay made up of Abby Klebe, Svea Wickelgren, Christina Yakaboski and Lindsay MacLellan placed sixth with a second all-time mark in Lehigh history (11:42.60).
 
Lehigh's 4x100m relay squad consisting of Stephanie Webb, Ashley Struck, Lillian Mauger and Gianna Mangili earned a third all-time mark of 47.27, good for 10th place.
 
COVERT CLASSIC
 
THROWS:
In the hammer throw, Avery Dowkus was Lehigh's top finisher in seventh (44.22m), while Jennifer Whipple placed ninth with a PR of 43.13m. Dowkus took third in the shot put, earning a PR of 13.05m. Three Mountain Hawks competed in the discus with Karina Roze taking second (37.13m), Dowkus landing seventh with a PR (33.81m) and Whipple rounding out the trio in eighth place (32.15m)
 
JUMPS:
Lehigh claimed the top two spots in the long jump as Lillian Mauger took first with 5.50m and Keisha Modi followed up in second with a jump of 5.34m. In the high jump. Kerry Perna placed second with 1.62m and Gaea DePass claimed fourth with a PR of 1.57m.
 
First and second place in the triple jump went to Lehigh as Casey-Talamini won the event with a 11.81m mark and Nina Cialone followed behind in second with 11.64m. Randi Conroy took second in the pole vault, recording a height of 3.05m.
 
SPRINTS/HURDLES:
Following her performance in the distance medley relay at Penn Relays, Wickelgren won the 400m at the Covert Classic with 58.52. In the 100m, Ashley Struck took first with 12.00 and Gianna Mangili claimed third with 12.39. Mila Jovanovic earned first place in the 400m hurdles with a PR of 1:05.92. 
 
In the 200m, Lehigh claimed the top three slots with Grace Kennedy earning the win (25.58), Stephanie Webb placing second (26.24) and Kasey White landing in third (26.46).
 
MID-DISTANCE/DISTANCE:
In the 3000m steeple, Siri Hellenbrand took second place with a time of 12:16.41. Three Mountain Hawks finished in the top four in the 1500m with Riley Morrell leading the way in second with 4:45. Lehigh had three student-athletes pick up PRs in the 800m with Elizabeth Jenulis (2:02.04) placing fourth, Hope Trimmer (2:21.36) taking fifth and Sydney Kusner in 17th (2:30.18).
 
The Patriot League Championships are next weekend on May 3-4 at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pa.
