WEST POINT, N.Y. – No. 5 Lehigh men's tennis took the court this morning against No. 4 Army West Point in the quarterfinal round of the Patriot League tournament. The Black Knights defeated the Mountain Hawks by a score of 4-2, ending Lehigh's 2024 campaign.
Lehigh (11-12, 4-4 PL) picked up the first point of doubles play, as Matt Kleiman and Marc Blekhman earned their 15th doubles win of the season via a 6-2 decision. The Black Knights then took the number two doubles match by a score of 6-4, setting up the third doubles match as the deciding one. Jackson Morash and Luke Donovan battled to a tiebreaker, but lost 7-6 (7-2) to award to first point of the day to Army West Point.
After dropping the opening doubles point, Lehigh found themselves down 2-0 after Army West Point's Marcus Sebastian picked up a two-set victory at number five. The Mountain Hawks would quickly respond with a two-set victory of their own from Matt Kleiman at the number one spot. However, a 6-2, 6-2 win from Alan Ton at number six put the Black Knights one win away from victory. Blekhman would earn a point for the Mountain Hawks via a two-set win at number two, but Vishnu Bodavula's three-set triumph at number four sealed the deal for the Black Knights.
The Mountain Hawks now set their sights on the offseason.
